Our Ethos

I’ve always loved candles — their glow, their scent, the quiet comfort they bring. But I never really thought about what was in them… until I noticed black marks on the walls so stubborn they needed repainting.

Even natural waxes can produce soot if not crafted or burned correctly, but paraffin (often called “mineral wax”) is known to release around 90% more. My concern was simple: if that black soot was on the walls, what was I breathing in?

That moment changed how I make candles. I now take great care to reduce potential toxins wherever possible — choosing renewable waxes such as soy or rapeseed blends. Every fragrance is carefully sourced, and I never use parabens or harsh additives, ensuring a clean, beautiful burn you can feel good about.

While no candle is completely emission-free, ours are crafted to burn cleaner, with less soot — a safer choice for indoor spaces, children, and pets. Each has been rigorously tested over 18 months to ensure even burning, the right wick, and a gradual, luxurious fragrance release. The result? A mindful candle experience — gentle on your home, your health, and the environment.

Sustainability

At Meliusse, we believe beauty and sustainability go hand in hand. Our glass vessels are designed to live on, whether repurposed, reused, or recycled once cleaned. Every element of our packaging can also be reused or recycled. The boxes themselves are rigid and beautifully made, perfect for keeping special mementos or important documents.

We avoid plastic wherever possible, but if you find a piece of bubble wrap in your parcel, rest assured, it’s been reused from deliveries we’ve received. Thoughtful, not wasteful.
